Yes, I am aware of this ... what is your point? ... the procedure I described works ... [there are obscure issues with Apple's implementation of FreeBSD, including libtool] ... are you saying that you are refusing to help people who do something that actually installs a program that is not yet in Fink (but certainly should be, as it is a major value area). The posts you and others have made have helped me much :)

and actually I followed what I wrote with the admonition to restore Apple's libtool by

cp /usr/bin/libtool.bup /usr/bin/libtool

I just want to say that anyone who gives or takes this kind of advice is on his own. I for one won't try to help them. I hope you are at least aware of the fact that /usr/bin/libtool has nothing to do with gnu libtool and that you disable your compiler tools when you replace one by the other.
