[Fink-beginners] connect refuse

I downloaded fink, installed fink commander, updated FC (trashed other first) ran source selfupdate rsync and cvs both would not connect.  I promptly trashed /sw reinstalled fink from the dmg               the reinstall  could not append line test -r /sw/bin/init.sh&& . /sw/bin/init.sh   ????? ran fink update-all from the CL update and get this   Could not connect to bindist.finkmirrors.net:80 (204.152.184.197). - connect (61 Connection refused) Failed to fetch http://bindist.finkmirrors.net/bindist/dists/fink-0.8.0/main/binary-darwin-powerpc//languages/gcc3.1_1175-6_darwin-powerpc.deb  Could not connect to bindist.finkmirrors.net:80 (204.152.184.197). - connect (61 Connection refused) E: Some files failed to download ### execution of /sw/bin/apt-get failed, exit code 100 Failed: Downloading the binary package 'gcc3.1_1175-6_darwin-powerpc.deb' failed.
