Hello again :) Today, I tried to install poxml. This has been a long and frustrating process, but I hope I'm closer than I was. The dratted thing seems to want to bring a huge stack of packages with it, some of them probably only distant relations with dubious habits.
Anyway, the error today was: ___ checking for msgfmt... no configure: error: *** You must have either have gettext support in your C library, or use the *** GNU gettext library. (http://www.gnu.org/software/gettext/ gettext.html ___ Now, I'm a localizer. I don't breathe without gettext. I have recently manually installed the latest gettext-0.15 (which is not yet available via fink). However, in order to access it, I had to delete my gettext files in /sw/bin. I'm now told I should have renamed them, but I don't think that would have avoided the above error. Would it? Do I need to install gettext again in /sw to fix the above error? (How would I do that manually, to install gettext-0.15?) Or does it want something else? All of gettext-0.15 is available in /usr/local/ bin, but I'm not sure fink considers that a friendly neighbourhood. fink's thoughts on my gettext stock: current gettext 0.10.40-25 current gettext-bin 0.14.5-2 archived gettext-dev archived gettext-doc gettext-emacs current gettext-tools 0.14.5-3 current libgettext3-dev 0.14.5-2 current libgettext3-shlibs 0.14.5-2 archived libgettextpo2-dev current libgettextpo2-shlibs 0.14.5-3 locale-gettext-pm586 locale-gettext-pm588 (I don't use emacs.) I still need to have gettext-0.15 (currently in /usr/local/bin) responding from the command-line. Would putting /usr/local/bin ahead of /sw/bin in my PATH fix this, and otherwise be OK? And what do I need to do to fix the configure error further above? Thankyou very much for any help you can offer with this. :) (What with the disappearing servers and workarounds, using fink is even more of an adventure than usual! ;) ) from Clytie (vi-VN, Vietnamese free-software translation team / nhóm Việt hóa phần mềm tự do) http://groups-beta.google.com/group/vi-VN ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Using Tomcat but need to do more?
