Disclaimer: I am not and have not been speaking in any way for the
author of FinkCommander, Steven J. Burr. And I have nothing to do with
the development of FC. As far as I know, this is his work alone. My only
relation to FinkCommander is my conviction that can be useful for many,
my suggestion to put a fink package description on the package
submission tracker, and my help in creating it.
I should probably add clarification on a couple of points, but then I'll be quiet an let you all sort this out. I have not up until now offered FinkCommander in binary form or announced it on any list other than fink-devel, because I wanted to make sure it was fairly stable before offering it to general fink users.
At the time Martin contacted me about submitting a package, SourceForge was reporting that about 70 people had downloaded v. 0.1.3, and I had not received any bug reports. (The CVS version is another story, unfortunately.) So it seemed an opportune time to make FC more widely available. I still think that's the case, so I will probably make the next release available in binary format, regardless of what decision you make on the fink package.
