Perhaps I have been out of touch since I use CVS for my fink stuff but I have tried a binary install and a source install on two different machines this week and had problems.
On a binary install, the downloads won't work for some components. Telia, sourceforge's hosting provider, has an interstitial page where the user selects a mirror: the automated scripts just save the HTML as the file you really want and of course everything breaks.
