"Do you need to do that? I've only got a PowerMac G4 400, and I was able to use my computer normally while compiling KDE. Eighteen hours is about right, though."
Already doing it. To minimize errors and chances of a system freeze and to make it all go as quickly as possible I decided I will log in to text-only mode via >console. Maybe it'll take less time this way. Right now I am defragging drive w/ Disk Warrior and Plus Optimizer, then I will note time I start and time completed to install fink, xfree86-rootless, and bundle-kde-ssl all from scratch in text only mode and post total install time when I am done for those who may want to compare text-only mode compile time vs. terminal in Aqua compile time. System: 800mhz PowerBook G4, 1Gb RAM. OS X 10.2.1 w/ July dev tools + August update. ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Fink-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/fink-users
