Well unfortunately I have no idea exactly how long a compile takes in
text-only mode because when I got home patch had frozen again. I'm
beginning to think that the word "unstable" is a bit of an
understatement when referring to the 10.2 branch. Had to hard shutdown
to get out of it, ctrl-c had no affect. Trying again and if it
doesn't work this time I'll just go back to IceWM only.

BTW, for all those who have had similar probs w/ patch PLEASE be sure
to boot into single-user mode and run fsck-y then defrag w/ Norton Disk
Doctor/Speed Disk or Alsoft Diskwarrior/Plus Optimizer or Micromat
Drive 10 vers 10.1 because when you have to hard shutdown from a patch
freeze it COMPLETELY frags your disk. Running fsck returns several
pages full of "overlapped extent allocation files" and "orphaned
indirect nodes". Do this after every freeze (I know, I know, it takes
forever) and then one more time after you get all your fink stuff
installed and then log in as root and index your hard drive and then OS
X will return to it's usual glorious speed.
