So it's not possible to work with (Mac)Gimp on a Mac where also Fink 
is installed?

Or is it just a question of the right order - installing first Fink 
and then the other applications?

That's it:  they used some fink stuff for their package.

I had assumed the problem was Virex because that's a newer issue with
fink.
