Hi all,

I know this is probably a stupid question because I can probably already do
it, I just don't know how.

Every time I want to install something new, I have to sit through a mess of
compilation. Is there a way to simply install binaries? Like a quick RPM
type install? I will literally have to wait through over a days worth of
compiling just to have KDE or GNOME. Can I get it quicker?

Thanks,
Ned Dupont

Yes, there is. However, you aren't guaranteed the current latest stable version for some of the packages (and definitely nothing from unstable).

Check out: http://fink.sourceforge.net/doc/users-guide/packages.php , sections 3.2 and 3.3

Also, if you're using Fink Commander, you can install binaries, and be able to see which packages have binaries available (and what version).
