Hello, Fist off, Merry Christmas to those of you who celebrate it. I would like to try the jabber server, so I did the following: 1) fresh install of Panther. 2) fresh install fo fink and fink commander 3) ran selfupdate-cvs from fink commander 4) told fink commander to show unstable releases 5) installed the jabber webmin module and the jabber server 6) after install, opened webmin in Safari and went to the jabber icon under servers. I get a message that "The jabber server program /sw/lib/bin/jabberd was not found on your system. Either jabber is not installed (it is) or your module configuration is incorrect." Now I'm kind f a newbie to unix, so I'm not sure how I'm supposed to configure the module. It looks to me that the module expect jabberd to be started already, and gives the startup command as: /Library/StartupItems/deaemonic-jabber start but when I look in the /Library/StartupItems folder, well, there is no /Library/StartupItems folder! Does anyone have the fink installed jabber server running and if you do, could you please send me the post install tasks? Also, does anyone have the jabber webmin module running and if you do, could you please tell me what you did to get it running? I don't know how you were able to get fink version 0.17.3.1 without at the same time obtaining a package description for fink-mirrors. Usually if you do a selfupdate, you first get all the package descriptions, and only then fink and friends are updated. Of course, if you have fink-0.17.3.1 installed without fink-mirrors, you are in a bad shape, because all the mirror lists are missing. I don't know what advice to give you to get out of this situation, because I don't understand how you got into it in the first place. -- Martin --__--__-- Message: 11 To: [EMAIL PROTECTED] From: Lloyd Budd <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Date: Fri, 26 Dec 2003 21:56:20 -0500 Subject: [Fink-users] fink alternate location, but apt-get (binary) installing to /sw Hello, I installed Fink from source to /fink , and then installed apt.
