I have one last package to update to bring my fink installation up to the latest:
tetex-texmf.
When I try to install it, fink starts the download, it gets to either 99% or 100%
complete, then
it hangs. It often prints out gobbledy-gook after a while. Sometimes the terminal
window
text is messed up even once I get my system prompt back. I have been having this
problem
for several months now, but just didn't bother following through on it. I cannot
verify
whether it always is due to curl error 20, but the download still hangs at 99 or 100%.
Now that I installed the Aug '03 gcc3.3 Update, I am more determined to bring all my
packages up to the latest.

I have also seen this behavior trying to download perl580 (another large file) on two
different
occasions. The curl man page says error 20 is an "FTP write error. The transfer was
reported
bad by the server." I have a hard time believing that easily a dozen attempts at
downloading this file over several months result in the same error. I've tried using
cvs and rsync. Earlier failures were under Fink tree 10.2 and I don't know which
package manager version.

I am currently running
Package manager version: 0.19.1 (10.2-gcc3.3)
Distribution version: 0.6.2.cvs
Mac OS X 10.2.8

Does anyone have any suggestions?
