I don't see this problem here. OSX 10.4.2, Apple X11,
imagemagick-6.1.8-1.
I saw it on three Tiger (10.4.2) machines with Apple X11 but otherwise
quite different configurations. Turns out it had nothing to do with
compiler versions or Apple's X11 itself. What all these cases had in
common is that the used quartz-wm. When I substituted icewm, the
problem went away... so am I guessing correctly that you're not using
quartz-wm either?
