I am pretty sure that in your case gnuplot would have failed on Leopard 
in the same way as now on Snow Leopard, at least if you had Leopard's 
X11 installed.

I don't dispute this. I was responding to the argument that this case 
should be put on the list of 10.5->10.6 upgrade problems. If anything, 
it is a 10.4->10.5->10.6 upgrade problem, exacerbated by wxgtk2.8's 
self-referencing bug.
