I think the gnome-settings-daemon issue and your unframed windows are separate issues. gnome-session no longer starts a window manager. You also to have to start that, e.g. via exec metacity & gnome-session in your .xinitrc file. Though that's deprecated, cf. http://finkers.wordpress.com/2010/06/18/finks-xinitrc-gnome-and-kde/ (which is going to get transferred to the "Running X11" document soon) If you're starting gnome-session from a terminal, then the issue is less clear, since I though Apple's window manager was somewhat OK for GNOME. - -- Alexander Hansen, Ph.D. Fink User Liaison -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.11 (Darwin) Comment: Using GnuPG with Mozilla - http://enigmail.mozdev.org/ iEYEARECAAYFAk1YCBAACgkQB8UpO3rKjQ/VBgCgjtAh6+PleRtB7Pjiv3XZmC7i B34An0KcdDC0S9LjGhY+KDAOOMGs8Izo =/3bF -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The ultimate all-in-one performance toolkit: Intel(R) Parallel Studio XE: Pinpoint memory and threading errors before they happen.
