The most interesting thing about this question is that we can still
support the racial hypothesis without bothering to answer it at
all. :-)
Instead, skip this step and see what the conviction and imprisonment
rates show by race. Racial bias will show up regardless of whether
it is justified (most violent gun criminals really are minorities) or
unjustified (most people convicted and imprisoned for gun violence
are disproportionately minorities).
