First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List ......................................................................... What about an Alston G-bar for rear suspension? http://www.scandc.com/alston.htm
I'm tempted to try one of these for my next project. It is a lot of cash but new leafs, shocks and bushings aren't for free either. /Niklas ........................................................................ . KJ, What do you want to do with the car? How do you want it to ride? Hotchkis stuff isn't going to be rough and race car like but it will be more firm than stock. If you're looking for stock replacement stuff, I'd call Detroit/Eaton spring and they can get exactly what you need. Personally, after having a car that was on stock suspension (rebuilt) and then going to a stiffer set up, along with the correct camber/castor changes, made a HUGE difference in the way the car drove. Event with the stock 14" Rally Wheels. Depending on the back spacing of the wheel you may run into problems with larger tires. I have a 255/45/17 in the rear and a 225/45/17 in the front. They fit pretty well. I would have chosen more back spacing on the 8" wide wheel, but it works. It's all in the measurements. Here are people with REALLY low cars and they can tuck some big rubber without issues. Though I'd assume you're going for something that isn't HUGE so I'd wager a guess that you'd be perfectly fine with a 1.5" or 2" drop all around. Brakes, stay away from SSBC, many people here have had issues with their brake systems! Master Power treated me right when I bought my master cyl from them. As a side note, I've decided to go in a different direction (coilovers) so if you are interested in a NEW set of front springs let me know, I'll make a good deal with ya.
