First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List

Were your outside air vents open? It seems like, theoretically at least, you
could get some water on the front floormats from this. Maybe it did come
through the window/wheather seals and just dried up but left the puddles. I
think someone on the list had the same problem so hopefully they will chime in.

Hello again. I know this isn't a first gen question, but it's close. I'm hoping
someone on this list has had an experience similar to mine and can lend me some
advice.> > I have a '78 Trans Am that isn't in the best of shape -- but it's
not a total basket case either. I'm out of room in the garage, so it sits
outside awaiting its turn. This spring it has already sat through a fairly
heavy and extended downpour.> > When I got in the car today to start it (I try
to fire it up every few weeks), the floors were very wet. There were water
puddles in the front floor on both sides, and water under the floormat in the
left rear (but not the right rear). The transmission tunnel was dry, and I
could not find any sign of water in either door jamb, around either window, or
on the headliner. The "nearly vertical" part of the floor where your feet go
were dry too. The floorpans are still solid (looking from t
he bottom, anyway), and I hadn't driven the car so I'm sure the water didn't
go "up" into the floor.> > Over the years the car has been in three fairly hard
accidents -- twice the car went over curbs -- and repaired each time. Is it
possible that the body was twisted enough to break some welds loose? (BTW it's
a hardtop -- no T-tops.) Or are there places on the firewall that tend to leak?
Or vents behind the kick panels that tend to leak? Or something else?> >
Anybody on the list had a similar experience?> > Thanks!> > Wayne in OKC.> >
