My 68's fresh air door, located under the cowl, is vacuum operated, i.e. no levers. And, I would guess yours is as well. I haven't gotten back to that point in the restoration so no experience with fixing it. Actually, I don't think the HotRod Air AC system I bought even uses the fresh air vent system unfortunately. Sheen> .........................................................................> OK. I did a little bit of checking in between other things today (like napping).> > Thomas: Yep. The windows were up. But if you knew me better you would know just how valid that question is. Thanks for asking.> > Sheen: I do not know how to open the outside air vents "manually." The car has A/C if it makes any difference (and it looks like it might -- I'll get to that in a minute).> > Wayne TX: I don't think it is a leaky windshield, it just seems like too much water for that. And there's no water in the trunk (believe it or not) so I don't think it's the back glass. The clogged drains is a good idea; exactly where are they, and can I get to them without taking the car apart?> > And back to Sheen: While checking the cowl for gunk buildup (there isn't any) or clogged drains (I never found the drains at all) I found what appears to be a vacuum door that is in the open position. It's on the passen ger side under the plastic grate. I could not move it in either direction. I started the car and moved the controls all around, and the door didn't move. It would make sense to me that in a downpour the water would run in that door, collect in the lower duct, and then run onto both sides of the floor.> > I checked the shop manual, and cars with heaters (no A/C) appear to have a "purge door." The manual on figure 1A-7 says "purge door opens to allow air flow into car under I.P. when system selector lever is moved to 'off'." I cannot find any reference to a "purge door" in the A/C part of the manual. Can someone tell me what this thing is and how I get it to close? (The obvious answer is to take it apart and try to fix it -- but I'm hoping to have an idea what I'm up against before I take the plunge.)> > Thanks for the help! _________________________________________________________________ Discover the new Windows Vista http://search.msn.com/results.aspx?q=windows+vista&mkt=en-US&form=QBRE ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Submissions to Firebird-L: <[email protected]> Unsubscribe from Firebird-L: <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Help: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/firebird/Firebird-L.html> Classifieds: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/ubb/> Owner Pictures: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/show/> Donations: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/store/cart.mv?999999> FGF Merchandise: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/store>
