I bought these from CI and they're just foam/sponge gaskets. The originals are more like a coal-tar based seal, a much better product. Are you suppose to glue these in place before installing? Also, are they supposed to be installed flat side out or "stepped side" out. The stepped side does not seem to have a purpose, i.e. it seems like they should be flat on both sides.
