69 radios are unique to 69 firebirds. The buttons are longer than any other
OEM radio. No one makes a radio that fits without cutting the bar. I got
an AM/FM Stereo radio from a 72 Grand Prix. I took it and a stock AM 69
radio apart and put the longer buttons on the GP radio. It's not really
correct, but few people know the difference.

Does anyone have any idea how good or bad a non-FB AM radio from a GTO will
work in a FB. I understand that for the 60 FB the pushbuttons were longer.
Are the shorter buttons something that can be lived with? I'm mainly wanting
any radio (non-working is better since it will be cheaper) that will fit the
original opening without cutting any of it. I was going to send it to a one
of the radio places that puts new insides in them to make them a modern
AM/FM stereo. Or failing that, does anyone know of a new radio that actually
fits the opening? One place I talked to said their would fit if I cut the
bar out but I hate to do that.
