I put an early 70s model AM radio with the short buttons in my 69.
If you pull the buttons out like you are setting the button to a
station, the buttons are the right length. The radio isn't hooked up,
so I just leave it this way. It looks fine, but will probably bug you
if you actually plan on using the radio.

Jim,
I have one for my 69. It fits in the opening, but since my dash is still
all apart I can't tell if it will look OK yet with the shorter buttons.
If you are just looking to fill the hole it should be fine. Most people
it seems are just putting a modern radio somewhere else, like in the
glovebox, or the secret audio system in the trunk, etc.
