First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List ......................................................................... I put a "built" 700r4 in my 67 firebird. Its good for up to 500 hp and 500 ftlbs. All I've had to do so far was put in a new crossmember, a "bop" adapter plate on the engine, and shorten the driveshaft. It also came with new linkage to hook up the throttle valve cable. I got everything from Phoenix Transmission in Weatherford, TX for about 2300. They ship worldwide and don't start the warranty until the car is on the road.

Hugo I was looking to utilise the extra ratios of the Gear Vendors unit for the strip, and also to make it driveable on the highway again with my 3.73 rear. What sort of hp is the 200R4 good for? Also wondering if anyone had fitted one to the 67-69 'bird and what mods req'd. Otherwise a 4L80 truck box?? They are fairly expensive and you probably have to pull the tranny to install it anyway. A 2004R is much cheaper and works really well. I have one in my 69 vert and I'm getting ready to install one in my 67 400 to make it more highway friendly.
