As long as you use a drop down base, you'll be ok with the 2" element.

Put it on there without the center stud on the carb and the make a loose ball of aluminum foil and put it on top of the air cleaner (at the center) and close the hood first till the latch just touches the hood and then check the foil ball. Next close it to the first click of the latch and open it and check (there should be no change in the shape of the ball) then slowly close it all the way and check to see how much the ball is flattened. This will show you the gap left. Most of the time the problem comes when you put the center stud and then it (or the wing nut) makes a ding on your hood so check to make sure you have enough space.
