The wiper is spring loaded with tension towards the wiper arm, so you place the pliers on the oposite side and lift towards the wiper arm, thereby releasing tension and it allows the arom to come off the stub. If you have new paint (Or paint in good shape) spend the 8 bucks or so for the tool :-)
