Hansi and others interested...
Maybe because I was brought up on the other side of the pond I think very
differently about the whole thing. Over here, many car enthusiasts lost a
lot of interest in the "Big 3" after the 70's. I know I have not liked
anything from them until recently. Agreed the G8 or a CTV would be nice, but
the interiors still lack the finish of the European cars in the same
market. That is insane with the taxes over there... We would be totally
screwed here in the states with that sort of mark-up on taxes. I wonder if
the same cars that you guys get from the American manufacturers are exactly
like what we get in the states. I know that the Holden cars seem to have
better interior bits and such.

I guess the bottom line for me is this: I LOVE 60's Muscle Cars, the new
pony cars are ok, and the trucks are about the only thing out there to get
the job done here in the states.(I will mention it is amazing with Europeans
do with their cars and what they tow with them.) For me, when I buy newer
cars from now on, they will be European. I LOVE my M3, wouldn't trade it for
a new Camaro, Mustang, or even Vette. It's just built well. Handles
extremely well, and has a balanced powerplant. Until GM, Ford, and Chrysler
can get off their butts and make a good car that handles well (I like go
kart handling), has a good powerplant (I do like the LS1), manual
transmission options in high powered cars, and good interiors that don't
kill you after a while I will go else where for my car.
