-Bob , you might get a good answer from Göran in Sthlm (on the Forum
usually)..or Niklas from Gothenburg( on here), but its not because of
quality...he`s pulling your leg...or he doesnt know.
its taxes, gas mileage etc..
When I lived here the first time 68 - 77
and brought back two 75 Olds Cutlasses as a "re location item" as I moved back
to sweden in77, you first had to own them here min of 6 mo ,plus own them in
Sweden after you got there for another year , to not pay the duty...the duty
and to get cars into Sweden*) was very high back then ,(no knowledge of today),
but the fee to get them registered was based on weight...meaning most US car at
least back then were not compared on the same board as Euriopean or jap car ,
lots lighter...but sweden has always had (as Norway and denmark) a very high
regard for US cars, in the 60`s ,70`s regarded as gas hogs ,and you had to be
"rich" to be able to afford to drive one...= status.

but the low number of cars from Us is based on costs to own one ,not quality.

*) another STUPID idea they had was that you culd NOT have any yellow lights up
front...thats for emergency vehicles only...remember the turnsignals and hazard
light on a 75 Olds?
I had to switch bulbs in the turn signals and destroy the emergency blinkers!!
they were not conforming... so no hazard lights.....lol

Hansi, I was in Sweden recently and was surprised by the lack of both
American and Japanese cars being driven for normal cars. Is there some major
EU
protectionism going on? 99% of the cars were European. I asked one of the
Swedes I was with and he said it was due to the low quality of American cars.
I
don't buy that due to the lack of Japanese cars also. There were quite a
few classic American cars around which was cool to see. Just wondering...
