For an excellent explanation of why incorrect alternator wiring makes it
difficult to keep your battery charged the MAD Electric site has a good
writeup.  I learned a lot from their article about it.

Well I found the junction block (at least what was left of it).  The pin to
which the various wires connect had melted through it and was dangling free.
The wire from the positive battery terminal was disconnected altogether.  I
think I may have found the reason for the electrical problems I've had.  Where
might I get a replacement junction block?  Thanks!

Sheen> Hello, Jim!> Do you have a picture of where the small wire from
the postive battery cable is supposed to connect?  Mine is loose and I'm
wondering if that's the reason I don't have any power (or at least why
my battery continually drains dead when the car sits for more than a couple of
days).  I have 12 volts at the battery and the starter but nothing at the
alternator.  Thanks!>  > David
