Bob, I think that tool is primarily for the 4 and 6 cylinder FWD vehicles. I 
wouldn't put the full weight of a Pontiac v-8 on top of my fenders! It might 
result in some custom creases, or at a minimum it would probably change the 
fender alignment.

I would hoist it out with a cherry picker type engine lift to do the rear main 
seal.
Just my 2 cents worth.

Harbor Freight had something in their recent sale rag that looked like a  
beam that sits across the fenders and you hang the engine off of it.  Not  sure 
if that's what you're talking about.
