First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List ......................................................................... Bobby,
There is a spring on the outside of the latch assembly that keeps a lever pressed up against the outside door handle button. It's likely that the spring broke, and the lever flopped away from the button. Look for the spring at the bottom of the door. Since the door panel is off, you should be able to reach in and push the lever out by hand.
The spring, the Door Push Button Lock Knob Spring, is available from Classic, and probably others, for a couple of bucks each. If that is what it wrong with yours, change both sides.

Guess what? Door won't open. I use the internal door handle to actuate the door latch. Nothing. I use my finger to activate the door latch. Nothing. Short of removing the passenger fender to get at the door hinges, what can I do? Is there some magic release button I can hit?
