Hi KJ,

I went with a 4 core rad and had all kinds of issues with overheating.

I ended up doing the following until I finally got her to run at temp:

* Lower Baffle
* X pans
* Fan Shroud
* Larger Fan blade.
* New spacers to position the fan correctly
* Hotter thermostat 195F
* 60/40 Anti freeze/water mix
* 17 lb rad cap
* and played with the timing more times then I cared to.

It still will heat up in a parade or heavy traffic and I am going to add
backup fans this year for those occasions....

Bottom line, if I was doing this again I would have purchased a Aluminum
rad and fan setup from the start and saved myself a bunch of
aggravation.

Subject: [FGF] Radiators and fans

.

I'm ready to order a radiator for my car. It's a 67 with a 69 400, and a
new 700r4. I looked through previous posts and saw that several
recommend the Rodney Red radiator and one someone mentioned to get the
electric fan setup too. However, when I looked at the rodney red
website, it does not show an available electric fan. They even go so far
as to say that the stock fan and shroud are more than adequate in most
applications. I have a new GM fan shroud, but don't mind unloading it if
I need to go electric instead, I just wanted to get a wider set of
opinions here. Also, I'll need to get everything from the pulley forward
if I go with a tradional fan, so what would you guys recommend?
Thanks, KJ
