First Generation Firebird-L Mailing List ......................................................................... Hi
I have just disconnected my heater core as it started to leak, and I don't think I will need it as it will not be going out when too cold. So I can plug the head and cap off the outlet from the water pump? Also what is the best temp. thermostat to run? I agree. If you look at diagrams of how the coolant flows, it flows from the water pump into the block, flows towards the rear through the block and back forward through the heads then out the intake manifold and into the radiator. If you pull the coolant out of the rear of the heads, that coolant doesn't get a chance to cool the heads. Better to plug and keep the water in the motor if you aren't running a heater core. Bob S. Are you running a heater ? if so, that's how it is designed to run; >From the back of the passenger head to the heater core. From the heater core to the water pump housing. That's it !!!!! If not, just plug both the holes. Pontiac V8's never had a rear crossover. There really is no need. Neither does a chevy for that matter Remember, the engineers knew what they were doing. The engine was designed without a rear crossover for a reason. ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Submissions to Firebird-L: <[email protected]> Unsubscribe from Firebird-L: <[email protected]> Help: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/firebird/Firebird-L.html> Classifieds: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/ubb/> Owner Pictures: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/show/> ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Submissions to Firebird-L: <[email protected]> Unsubscribe from Firebird-L: <[email protected]> Help: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/firebird/Firebird-L.html> Classifieds: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/ubb/> Owner Pictures: <http://FirstGenFirebird.org/show/> ********************************************************************* The information transmitted is intended only for the person(s) or entity to which it is addressed and may contain confidential and/or privileged material.
