Q: Why do most of us have this issue?

I have always been perplexed by that because... I don't and never have in 40
years of driving mine.

I have used original or stock replacement on everything on my 400HO and have
overheated only once, in the early 1970s when I got a stuck thermostat.

I have used the original and now YearOne OEM-style repro radiator.

Stock 15lb cap with only the stock puke hose which stays dry.

Run stock 9 degrees before TDC timing.

Have all original (or Tech bulletin recommended) vacuum connections.

Stock replacement water pump.

50/50 coolant

Stock hoses, heater core, and even have AC.

I have all the 400/AC baffles and fillers but did run without the lower
dam/baffle for many years but now have it for originality.

I don't have guages but the stock sender for the idiot light.  (Once I got an
overheat indication and the original sender had failed.)

Have driven 178,000 miles in -30 winter to 100+ degree summer weather, at high
speeds on interstates and stopped for long perids in Chicago-area traffic
jambs, through mountain ranges and to the top of Pike's Peak with no problem.

I don't get it.
