If the rear seal is leaking it's not too hard to replace it yourself. There is like a big nut holding it in place. Mark the bolt and count the number of rotations when you unscrew it. You need to put it back in the same position to give the gear box the correct tension. On the other hand... If i where you I would ditch the old gear box and get one with quicker steering.
