.........................................................................
I should have given more detail...

I got a deal on an OHC sprint 6 and gearbox and am planning to put it in
a GMC truck we have.

The guy also had a new hood tach. Now I have got it home and looked it
is an NPD 6cyl. Hood tach.

Before I rip into it will there be a jumper or switch to alter inside to
get it run on a V8 (I am guessing not!)

For info. It is a blue / black face with 5500 redline.

I may have a 6cyl. Hood tach for sale!!

Regards

Ed

Hi Ed,

I believe there is a jumper that has to be added/removed when using the
tach on either 6 or 8 cyl when using the after market tachs.

1967 V8 had the tall style tach, black face, green lettering & 5200 red
line
1967 OHC = no listing
1968 OHC 6 = blue face 5500 red line
1968 all V8 (except ram air II) = blue face 5100 red line
1969 OHC 6 5500 redline

According to my books in 1969 all V8 including ram air IV had a 5100 Red
line, a red colored red line and was used up to the first few months of
1970. After that the redline switched to florescent orange and was used
through 1972.

Will a 6 cyl. Hood tach work on a V8?
Is there a difference other than the redline?
