Thanks Pete. The scavenging thing is very important. I plan on
using my firebird for a partial daily driver, but no racing. I am on a
limited budget and my firebird has straight pipes with cherry bombs. I have
yet to acquire a 455 donor motor and will probably be out of a 73-76 car
because of cost. Though I will be using it locally and perhaps taking a
trip to Colorado hopefully, I would like it to perform with both power and
economy, regardless. My understanding of scavenging is use of proper
exhaust gas flow from intake to the tail pipe to make the enigine run better
and more smoothly. Because the #46 heads were never used on the 455 motors,
where would I find the information on the comfort zone for those heads as to
the proper scavenging.
