Something else occurred to me: I just don't notice the color
difference often to show if firebug is active or not. Rather than have
a big bar, perhaps the area of the status pane could be larger when
active (and back to the idea of putting the inspect icon in there some
firebug activity icons). Anyhow, just thoughts...
