I've spent about 5 hours today trying to figure out where Firebug
went. I've done everything short of a complete reinstall of Firefox
(including creating a new profile, deactivating plug-ins, etc.).

Here are my specs:
Vista Home Premium - 64-bit OS (I mention the latter as it's been the
bane of my existence since I got this computer and I haven't seen
anyone else here mention it)
Firefox v.3.5.3
Tried to install the latest version from official site

When I try to "add on," I get a message that says it's not a trusted/
known source. I tell it to install anyway. It does what others
mention: asks for a restart and nothing is there.

Where others have suggested that they go the Profiles and delete the
extensions.ini .cache and .rdf files, I have to tell you, those files
don't exist for me. Since I have no clue what they are, maybe someone
can tell me if they're relevant.

I can upload the error console if you tell me what's most relevant
there.

With much appreciation!

Caryn
