It seems the newer firebugs aren't marked as compatible with Firefox 15.x so when FireFox updates firebug it is disabled silently while appearing enabled in manage addons (WTF!).
Nice while I have the usual balls ache of waiting for important addons to become 16 compatible I can't use the most useful one for some dumb compatibility reason.... So I can't do my job or I can't do my job - thanks a bunch....
