I have the same problem and it's driving me mad!!! Unlike Jeffrey, reinstalling didn't help for me either :(
I've updated my Firefox to 16 thinking maybe this causes the issue but it doesn't seem to make any difference. It's like Firebug is completely gone. I can access it when I right click on a web page and select 'Inspect Element' and the bottom menu opens but the screen showing which page and line the element is on does not. HELP!!!
