Some insurers call it "Errors and Omissions" coverage and, yes, it can be
very expensive. Premiums might go down over time if you are never sued;
kind of like workman's compensation insurance if you never have an accident.
I've been on the consultant hiring side of this qeustion. Depending on the
work being done, we have sometimes written the insurance requirement into
the contract (or alternatively, a bond) so that we can avoid those that
choose to use bankruptcy as protection.
