Mike, Are you building fldigi from source or installing it pre-packaged? There are some reports that Gnome-system-monitor may give inaccurate numbers, so could you please do the following and tell me what you see: in a terminal window while fldigi is running, type "top" and see what the percentages are for the top few processes (on average - it will jump around). Also, if you or anyone ever wants to open a bug for Ubuntu against fldigi, you can do it in a terminal window by typing: ubuntu-bug fldigi This will gather a bunch of information about your system that may be useful in troubleshooting. I get notification of those bugs automatically, and then if you want to post a bug link here on the list everyone will be able to see your system information, which will reduce the number of questions we have to ask.
