It's going to be very hard to do and prone to all kinds of problems. My instinct is this: If you knew how to do it you would avoid doing it. If you don't know how to do it and have to ask you shouldn't do it. My suggestion for 'the proper way' is not to try and build a single swf. - it's just my opinion, maybe others (and you) disagree.
