I use the Flex 5000 second receiver [RX2] with VAC and feed the results into Linrad. In fact, I posted a brief note on this [with a query] on 12/25...guess you took that day off ;)

It is very simple to set up. Here is what I do to use VAC with Flex 5000 RX2 using Virtual Cable 1:

For "Direct IQ" on the right end of the VAC page of Audio Setup panel
Check "Output to VAC", "Calibrate I/Q", "Use RX2".
Check "Enable VAC" on this page.

Set Sampling rate in PowerSDR for VAC to 48000 with buffer size 512

Set up VAC channels as usual.

To use it with Linrad, select the VAC Cable 1 as input sound device for Linrad.

I happen to use it with Linrad set up to receive signals from two separate 'receivers', the Flex 5000 RX1 and RX2, so I can do diversity receive with RX1 and RX2 with Linrad. If you do that you need to reverse the direction of one of the channels by making a minor modification to the Linrad code and do a couple of other things to even out the delay between the two receivers.

If you want to do that, email me and I will send you the code. If I get double digit requests for the code I will post to the list. It is only a few lines...

Could someone give a straight answer as to whether it's possible for
the 2nd receiver of the 5000A to be programmed to use VAC (with
separate cables from the main receiver) and if it is, when? A major
part of using a second receiver would be to run programs connected to
it, like some other radios can do. Basically two radios in one, which
is what I thought the Flex advertisements suggested. Then again maybe
I misinterpreted and hoped for too much.

Also there is the suggestion of breaking out the audio from each
receiver ported to the stereo jack on the back of the Flex 5000A. As
in right and left channels. I have not been able to get this to work.
In fact I cannot get any audio from that jack. Any suggestions as to
what I'm doing incorrectly, or again am I misinterpreting it's use.
