I used the SDR-1000 for a number of years without CW issues. I use an
external keyer (WinKeyer). Recently I have moved to a FLEX-5000 but I
have not built the cable to connect the Keyer to the FLEX-5000. (Can't
believe I can not find the connectors in a drawer or box somewhere in
this place.) From reading the posts it sounds like the issue is with
the internal keyer and not straight keys or external keyers. I plan on
continuing using the WinKeyer so the internal keyer is not much of a
concern of mine.
By the way, if you do use a straight key or an external keyer, be sure
to turn off the Iambic options. It makes really odd code otherwise and
you get a bunch of ..--.. responses.
