That's Curt's default for US scenery.  Do you mean a higher resolution?

Try flying at, say, 10,000ft with 20000m visibility and tell me your
framerate.

Once we implement some kind of LOD, this won't be as much of a
problem, because we'll have much-simplified versions of far-away
tiles, and high detail only for the nearest ones.  Any volunteers?

Our current triangle library just isn't performing with more complex
scenery.
