..possibly, depends on how far we need to go.  Take the good old steam
radio era, like the 70'ies analogue Futaba's, I've got 2, the instructor
box powers and reads the student box stick (or encoder) thru the buddy
box cord, when holding the "teach" button in, and takes over the sticks.

..on releasing the button, instructor sticks are read at 50Hz, the
student sticks either at 50Hz in by the student box encoder, or as
resistance from the stick pot meters, I believe this analogue approach
was used by the Futaba steamers, and they may have moved on to read 
pulse trains.

..assuming FG reads the pulse train encoder instead, we're back
at 50 Hz, but how quick can FG read steamer vintage Futaba stick 
potmeters off the buddy box cord?
