Er - wait a minute! The entire wing was only 15 ft long! That can't be right! The diagram must imply that the *total* aileron area was 16.5 sq ft. That would make each aileron about 7ft long, slightly less than half the length of the wing. Which is closer to what we see on the diagrams, but seems a little long even so.
