Hi Steve Havlir,
I never would have tried the Harrier without any reference points to the
horizont (cockpit frame, etc). That's why I am very happy you created
the very nice 3D-model and hope for further development.
Although we don't know anything about how the real Harrier flies this is
a very nice alternative in vertical flight to the Bo105.
So, with this actual flight model you have to think a lot more "in
advance" compared to a helicopter (where you also have to think in
advance) due to the big! delay to power-setting and steering commands.
Actually, I do not have any detailled information about the Harrier. So
some recherche has to be done. Ie. is vertical thrust regulated by
turbine-power-setting (would be very critical) or exhaust regulation
(some form of bleedair regulation). How are the procedures to fly, etc.
At the moment, after some ups and downs and transitions to horizontal
flight and back (with "my own" procedures :-) ) I am pretty satisfied
that the bird is flyable - difficult but to handle.
It was a very good idea to combine the thrust-vector with the mixture
control, so I could use a throttle-dial originally set for mixture and
control all "hands on stick and throttle".
