I have made a small (mostly) Linux program that uses ARToolkit and a 
webcam to track a marker on the user's head. It uses Alexander's 
communication protocol and seems interact with FlightGear as expected.

However, at this time the program is very crude and I have not managed 
(due to lack of time etc) to sort out the translation from quarternions to 
euler angles needed to support tracking of head rotation (i.e. it tracks 
position only).

If anyone wants and have the time to play with this and improve it, they 
are most welcome. :)
