Hi,
game or simulation - there is no difference between a civilian and a
military oriented branch.

As an example, we now have nearly 300 registered user of the German
FlightGear forum. Posting the first time, many of them call FlightGear a
game - and are still using FG as a game. They play with the new stuff
for some time as long as it gives some thrill and then throw it away
taking up some new toy.

Therefore a larger user base is nothing worth, neither civilian nor
military. What really counts for me is that there is a guy who seems to
be willing to do a hard job himself, not only asking "it would be nice
if we had ..". If over the time a small group would come together with
this special interest, sweating for it, fine.

Beside the advantages Stefan already showed I would add that we already
have a lot of military craft in the FG world which could profite from
further upgrading and finetuning, flightmodel and 3D-model.

This might or might not be realized over the time, but how can we judge
without giving James (and other interested) the chance to prove that his
suggestions are serious, that means he is able to translate into deeds
- with some support from the experienced, as always :-)

And no harm for the civilian side of FlightGear, of course, that's the rule.
